Final Empire at 30 Daily Drawing, May 31, 2010: In Search of Han

It’s hard to believe I’ve already spent an entire month doing one drawing a day from The Empire Strikes Back! Today is the last day of the month, and all of the Star Wars films have been released over Memorial Day weekend. So today I’ve drawn the final shot from the film: Luke and Leia watching Lando and Chewie blast off in the Millennium Falcon to plan Han’s rescue.

It’s been quite a ride, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my month-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back!

The Empire Strikes Back, the second Star Wars film (and greatest film of all time) turned 30 on May 21st, 2010. I’m doing one drawing a day throughout May, 2010!

Empire at 30 Daily Drawings May 29: But you are not a Jedi yet.

As we quickly head towards the ending of The Empire Strikes Back, I decided to take a moment to capture the first clash of lightsabers between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Painted in Photoshop CS5.

Empire at 30 Daily Drawings May 28: Boba Fett Leads Luke to Vader

I finally caved in and drew Boba Fett today. But I’d argue that by this point in the film, Luke is the more important character since he’s working his way towards Darth Vader. So there.

Empire at 30 Daily Drawings May 25: Ghost of Obi-Wan says ‘Don’t Go, Luke!’

Today’s ‘Empire at 30′ daily drawing features the ghost ‘Force Spirit’ of Obi-Wan Kenobi as he tries to warn Luke away from ending his training to go rescue Han, Leia and the kids Chewbacca and C3PO.

The original title for this one was ‘The power of Obi-Wan compels you!’ but I ditched the idea.

Luke finds himself in some trouble of his own in this scene I selected to draw from The Empire Strikes Back for today’s ‘Empire at 30’ daily drawing.

Empire at 30: Watch Me Paint a Scene on my iPhone

Happy 30th Birthday to The Empire Strikes Back! I did this iPhone painting a few days ago from the scene in The Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars) where Luke and R2D2 head to Dagobah. I used the Brushes app, which captures your brushstrokes as you paint. This is a really quick playback of me painting it!

Today I’ve featured Luke’s X-Wing as he and R2D2 head to Dagobah. I decided to change things up a bit, so I did this painting on my iPhone using the Brushes App for iPhone.

Today’s drawing sees Luke and Han returned to the Rebel Base on Hoth, where Luke undergoes treatment in the BACTA tank to heal his wounds sustained by the WAMPA.
