Imaginative Cat is filled with awesome powers. She thinks of a second tail and BOOM! Unicorn horn? BAM! In the sky? Twice as high. She can go anywhere!
See? Creatures don’t have to be scary or all that unfamiliar! So I have one week down; three to go and a new technique this week. Drawn in my Moleskin but colored in Procreate on my iPad. No filters though!
I came up with day five’s look before there was any story! So the only thing I could think to describe it would be ‘fuzzy horned beast’. Even though it doesn’t currently have a history (that I’ve discovered yet), I would like to say some of his DNA comes from Dr. Seuss. I guess there’s also a resemblance to Jhonen Vasquez’s Invader Zim universe as well. If I come up with a story, I’ll let you know!
Painted on my iPad using the Procreate app, along with a bit of post processing in Halftone.
Day three is a Total Vampire. He’s scary, right? Inspired by Mittens, whose vacant stare was quite an inspiration during tonight’s debate. You’ll notice I left off the smirk. I don’t want to HORRIFY people here.
He does, however, have hypno eyes, so I suppose some people will follow him anywhere.
Built the same way that the first two days worth of creatures were made (iPad blah blah).
Welcome to October! All month long I’ll be torturing myself (and you) with another ‘drawing a day’ project. Join me as we go on a horrifying adventure together!
Let’s kick off the first creature with a Monstrous Mummy! Unlike ancient mummies, this one is only a little over a hundred and fifty years old. He was once a guest at a mummy unwrapping party in the 1850s. Anyways, it’s quite a long story. Needless to say it’s time for revenge.
Process: It’s all experimental. I chose to make him look a bit like a frame from an animation cell. Painted on my iPad using the Procreate app, along with a bit of post processing in Halftone.
